Sean Kiley, JD

Strategy Advisor

Expertise

Strategy Advisor Sean Kiley’s best work is conducted in the conference room. He meets with teams of lawyers, listens carefully to their case descriptions, collaborates on ideas, and ultimately, he provides the teams with winning trial advice. No matter how dry, voluminous, or complex case facts may be, Sean is a master at uncovering the core case themes that spawn compelling courtroom narratives.

In addition to his role as an integrated strategy advisor, Sean is an academic who instructs and conducts research on communication strategy. Sean presently serves as a lecturer at University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where he teaches classes that focus on presentation design and information design. In the past, Sean taught for several summers at Golden Gate University School of Law’s Summer Trial and Evidence Program. He also served as an associate research scholar at Yale Law School in the spring of 2019.

Sean formerly served as assistant district attorney in the White Collar Crime Division of the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. He also was an attorney for law firms in Philadelphia and San Francisco. While in practice, Sean worked on civil and criminal cases throughout the country. The stakes ranged from $1 billion in damages to criminal convictions. His cases involved a broad range of issues, including environmental torts, consumer protection, medical malpractice, and commercial matters, to name a few.

Throughout his legal career, Sean has been well awarded. He was the recipient of the California District Attorneys Association Appellate Advocacy Award in 2015. He was named a California Lawyer Attorney of the Year in 2013. Also that year, Sean was a finalist for the Public Justice Trial Lawyer of the Year Award.

Sean received his JD from Rutgers School of Law in New Jersey and his BA from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. While he does not presently practice law, he is admitted to the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and California bars.
