Jon Krosnick, PhD, is widely recognized as an expert on the psychology of attitudes, survey methodology, and public opinion research. For more than 25 years, Dr. Krosnick has conducted large-scale national surveys examining American public opinion on climate change and environmental issues. His contributions to survey methodology and political psychology were honored by the American Association for Public Opinion Research with a Lifetime Career Achievement Award for outstanding research. He has authored seven books and nearly 200 scholarly articles and book chapters.
Dr. Krosnick is the Frederick O. Glover Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Stanford University, as well as Professor of Communication - Political Science, Environmental Social Sciences, and Psychology. He serves as Director of Stanford’s Political Psychology Research Group, leading long-running research programs that use rigorous survey methods to study environmental attitudes and climate-related public opinions. Dr. Krosnick is also a research psychologist at the US Census Bureau and was previously a co-principal investigator of the American National Election Study, the nation’s leading academic research program focused on voter decision-making.
As a member of the IMS Legal Strategies affiliate advisor program and a testifying expert witness, Dr. Krosnick designs and conducts original surveys and evaluates opposing surveys to support litigation. His experience spans matters involving false or misleading advertising, patent and trademark disputes, consumer deception, health effects of accidents, and economic valuation of environmental damage. Dr. Krosnick has testified in more than 100 cases, at both deposition and trial.
