IMS at the 2026 NCADA Fall Seminar: Damages Resources for Defense Counsel

The North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys (NCADA) hosts its 2026 Fall Seminar for insurance claims representatives and defense counsel on Friday, November 6, at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC.

The morning opens with recent appellate decisions and a panel on AI and client expectations, followed by breakout tracks in general liability, medical malpractice, employment, government, and product liability. The afternoon turns to the rise of “thermo-nuclear” verdicts, including a North Carolina award exceeding $108 million, and how defense themes can help reduce exposure. A hot topics session follows on North Carolina’s recent ban on third-party litigation funding. The day closes with “A Case Through the Eyes of the Experts,” a panel on how life care planning, accident reconstruction, biomechanics, and economics shape case strategy and damages assessments.

IMS Legal Strategies is sponsoring and exhibiting at this year’s seminar, represented on-site by Life Care Planning and Vocational Expert John Maier. With case value at the center of several sessions, John will be available to discuss how defense teams can scrutinize claimed future care and lost earnings.

When a plaintiff claim includes a life care plan, an IMS life care plan rebuttal examines whether the proposed care and projected costs are medically necessary and reasonable, while a vocational assessment rebuttal evaluates claimed lost earning capacity. To challenge causation and claimed injuries, IMS’s medical expert witness services provide pre-vetted medical experts for record review and independent medical examinations, with case managers who coordinate files, scheduling, and deadlines.

For cases headed to trial, our jury consultants test case themes through mock trials and focus groups, and our trial graphics and presentation technology teams help jurors follow medical and technical evidence in the courtroom. These integrated litigation consulting services enable defense attorneys and claims professionals to work with one firm from early case evaluation through verdict.

If you are attending the 2026 NCADA Fall Seminar in Greensboro, visit the IMS booth to connect with John. Our local account executive, Susan deHoll, is also available at any time to discuss how we can support your upcoming cases.
